Kérastase to the rescue…. hopefully

My hair woes are not a secret… I bitch and complain about my hair, what seems like, every other day. It is annoying as hell, and I’m sorry if you have had enough. Hopefully this will all change once I get my extensions (so excited) and also once I figure out a hair regime that will whip my hair into shape.

A while back I wrote about the Ojan kit I purchased from Sephora… Needless to say I was a bit disappointed. So off to the internet I went to research something else. What I found was a surprisingly overwhelming love of the Kérastase line. I had seen these products in salons before, but never really gave them much thought. The reviews I read were more than convincing, so yesterday I ran out and bought the Nutri Thermique 3-step regime. It cost me an arm and a leg, but I am desperate. So I shelled out the bucks and headed home to try out my new products.

This is what the website has to say about the line;

Kérastase thermo-reactive technologies for very dry and sensitized hair intensely nourish while creating durably soft and shiny hair under the effect of heat.

And, these are the products;

So what we have here, is a 3 step system (Shampoo, Mask, and Conditioner) to nourish and heal. All in all, it was very easy to use and left my hair feeling pretty silky. It smells very “clean” as my Mom would say, in lamens terms.. it smells like soap.

Problem is… I forgot my blow dryer and straightener… and these products work best with heat. So while I was happy that it actually made my hair feel better, I feel like I didn’t get the full results, so this evening I will try again and report back my findings.

I am very hopeful that these products will work, probably because I am desperate! But I have nothing left to give when it comes to my hair, so why the hell not!

I am 100% certain that Zara stole my fashion dreams

I have a serious hard on for Zara right now… They’re just hitting all of my fashion buttons the right way and I LOVE IT!

Structured bags, leather on everything, studs, sequins, suede booties, coated denim, cropped pants, animal print (this is a new obsession of mine)! Egads, I am out of breath! Seriously, I am certain someone at Zara read my thoughts and designed everything to match all of the styles, cuts, fabrics and fits that I love.

Take these for instance… I nearly had a heart attack when I saw these cowhide treasures;

Ahh leather, you make my heart sing…

If you really know me, you know that I love glitter and sequins. Actually scratch that. I pretty much love anything embellished. Basically, I am like  magpie. If it blings, I will come. My love of embellished things probably stems from my aversion to accessories. While I love them sometimes, for the most part I steer clear. However, throw on something embellished and viola! you have yourself an accessorised outfit!

Needless to say Zara did not disappoint on this front. While the embellished factor on these is quite minimal (minus the skirt!), they have just enough to make them wearable without looking like you’re headed to Studio 54;

For some reason these last few months I have had a bit of a fashion change of heart. I usually steer clear of colour and prints, but my new-found love of red and (some, mostly animal) prints, has my closet looking extra fun!

I still don’t go all out with my prints and colour but for a pop of fun I could definitely throw on any of these with my standard uniform and not feel like Carrie Bradshaw;

As a taller gal, I always have a hard time finding pants long enough to fully cover my gams. I learned long ago to embrace this misfortune, and instead love all things cropped. There is nothing sexier than a slim fit cropped pant and stilettos, it is so chic and sexy. Versatile too, I can wear a pant like this to the office or dinner and not skip a fashionable beat. Even better, the prints and textures Zara has this season are amazingly beautiful, I can’t wait to see these in person;

Get outta my head, Zara! I cant stress enough how in sync they are with my tastes… it is kinda spooky actually. But I wont complain, I’ll just shop!

SIDE NOTE: I would like to apologize for my laziness as of late… I have been terribly busy (for me anyway) and disorganized. I promise to post more frequently as soon as I get my shiet together!

Happy Thursday Fashionistas!

To ombré and add extensions, or not to ombré and add extensions… That is the question.

Ummm, hello! The answer is to ombré and add extensions, god dammit… I dream of long, beachy hair that has been kissed by the sun… and come hell or high water, I will achieve it!

Genetically, I have pretty good hair… I’m a natural (dark) blonde, it grows really fast, I have a heck of a lot of it and it has some good wave to it. But between me damaging my hair and the fact that I always think I want short hair, I haven’t been able to achieve my hair dream… sniff, sniff

Currently, my hair is all over light blond and barely past my shoulders with some bangs. Thanks to my hasty choice to dye my own hair, I had no choice but to lob it off and dye it all one colour to correct it. Although, I was inspecting my hair this morning, and I was very surprised to see that it has gotten 100x healthier than it was before. I found this great Keratin hair mask and have been applying it religiously over the past few weeks but I still have a lot of damage that I need to get rid of which means only one thing…chop, chop, chop!

So to achieve hair dreams, I have come to two conclusions; 1) I want to ombré my hair and 2) I want to get extensions (since I will need to chop off my hair to get it healthy).

I am a bit fearful to get extensions, as I have heard they can be quite damaging and look horrid if not maintained properly. But I think I can handle the maintenance to keep them in great condition, so I’m not worried. Plus, how fun is it going to be having beautiful, long hair again! Jesus Murphy, I can’t wait!

Now on to colour! I really, really want ombré hair. I have been obsessed with the Neil George Blog as far as ombré inspiration goes… there are some seriously, slamming hair do’s on this blog!

I’ve always rocked a semi-ombré look (from pure laziness though), so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for me to do. I am no fuss kinda girl when it comes to my hair (Seriously, who like sitting there for 4 hours, every 6 weeks to touch up colour!? not this girl that’s for sure!), so it is a look that’s perfect for me.

Here are a couple looks (colour and length and style) I really, really like;

BONUS; Like me, the girl (top pic) has bangs and how friggin’ adorable does this style look with bangs!? I die!

I would definitely do a lighter version/combination of the two looks. I look much better with light blonde hair, and I also like it when the ombré is blended. The only problem with this is that as a bleach blonde bunny, it is hard to keep colour in this mane and I think I would have to do a reverse ombré technique (add in dark, not add in light) and that will be tough to achieve optimum results, as it could fade out pretty fast. If that proves too tricky, I would guess I just stay bright blond and just stick with the same, length, cut and style as these lovely beauties… But I will be optimistic and hope for ombré!

If anyone has any advise, tips, suggestion or information on extensions and colours, please don’t hesitate to let me know! I am all ears on this one!

Happy Wednesday, Fashionistas!

Things I learned this weekend

  1. All women look amazing in a BCBG Power Skirt
  2. When partying with asian gangsters, be prepared to drink a lot of Patron, Grey Goose and Dom Pérignon! (Side note; I may be in a gang now… I can’t remember all of the deets, but I vividly remember a secret handshake)
  3. Never fall asleep in a cab

Now back to the skirt. No girl can look bad in a BCBG Power Skirt, not a one! The Power Skirt is basically a bandage skirt, aka. body con skirt. Max Azria (head designer and CEO for the BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP) is the king of this style, hands down. They accentuate and suck in/hide all of the right areas and are uber flattering on all body types. Oh, and they are super comfy and stretchy… great for running home, if you’re so inclined…yes, there is a story to that but I wont divulge, just believe me when I say you can.

FUN FASHION FACT: You know those sexy Herve Leger dresses you see all of the celebs wearing? well those are designed by none other than Mr. Max Azria himself… So you can believe me when I say he knows what he is doing when it comes to the Power Skirt.

I’m not one for super sexy dresses, mostly due to the fact that any sexy dress is short which means, as a rule of thumb, it is micro on me. I feel uncomfortable the whole time and I am on high alert because I feel like my kitty is going to make an appearance at any moment.

My got-to instead? the Power Skirt. I get the same sexy effect without the worry! Plus they come in all sorts of fabulous colours, patterns, lengths and finishes.

Here are some of my faves;

Wear one with a sexy blouse, corset top, tank or even a t-shirt (tucked in or loose) and you’re ready for a night out on the town!
