I swear, I’m not dead

It’s been over a month since I last posted! What the Jesus Tap Dancing Christ could be happening over here? Well, I would like to say I am changing the world one awesome step at a time, but that would be  a big fat lie.

In all honesty, I have been a bit busy in the social department and a little bit uninspired. Not to whine, but winter (especially in Edmonton) sucks a big ol’ d***! Trudging through the snow in your Sorels and Columbia jacket can take quite the toll on a Fashionista. Suddenly you can no longer wear your cute shoes, your pants (because lord knows you can’t wear a dress or a skirt without getting your legs amputated!) now have an uncomfortable extra layer under them and forget about makeup, you’re lucky if your mascara withstands the 4 block walk you have to take to get from home to the office. Seriously, have you ever had icicles form on your eyelashes? I have and let me tell you it is not as “Winter Wonderland” as you may expect! Also, it is dry as a mo fo in Edmonton and my skin is parched beyond rescue.

Despite these hardships, there have been a few sunny spots on these otherwise dark and gloomy times. Simons recently opened up in e-town, so naturally I went and checked it out. Over all, it was ok. Nothing really jumped out at me as groundbreaking. However, I did manage to find a faux-leather tee in a beautiful cranberry color, that I love to death. So I wont complain!

In keeping with my cranberry/burgundy/purple mood, I also purchased a cute pair of waxed skinny jeans from the Bay. They are part of the Material Girl line (Miss Madonna’s fashion line, if ya didn’t know!) and for $29, I have nothing bad to say about them! They have a great sheen, and work well with stilettos or boots!

In shoe news, I managed to scoop up a pair of absolutely divine pony hair booties from Aldo for get this… $50! I love them so, so, so, so much! I can’t wait to wear them with everything!

A few weeks ago, I was able to take a fabulous trip with some of my greatest pals to Banff, AB. Banff is one of my favourite places on earth! Seriously, if you haven’t gone, you need to asap! It is amazing. While the point of the trip was to relax, hit the mountains and of course party. I managed to get some shopping in. The funny thing is, it was at the GAP. Totally not my place, but I picked up two pairs of pants that were too good to pass up on. For starters, they were $9.99! I’m not one to just buy something because it is on sale though, they also had to work, and as luck would have it they totally do!

Prepare to be shocked though, because they are bright as the sun! That is right, I bought bright coloured pants… I too was shocked. The first pair are my favourite, they are super versatile (right in my wheel house) and the color is quite pretty.

Behold my new khakis!

I am actually a huge fan of GAP khakis, they fit really well and are super soft!

My next pair of pants are more office friendly. I love the colour, and also the crop. They look great with my new booties and also a pair of pumps!

Despite the frozen, snotsicles suck to my face, I guess winter hasn’t been all that bad. I’m just ready for it to be over. I always feel more inspired in the warmer months, and of course I get outside way more. I am super excited for the upcoming holiday season though, I love the holidays and this year I am venturing out east for the holidays! That will be a fun post for sure and will make for some really great memories.

I’ve actually been pondering the idea of  doing the outfit/look of the day thing for a while now, and I think to get me more active on here, I am going to. I know, I know, I said I wouldn’t ever do that but after careful consideration I thought it would be best that I actually prove to you that I can put an outfit together. As far as some of you are concerned, I could be a 45 yr old fat man living in my mom’s basement. I assure you, I am not!

That’s all for now Fashionistas! Happy Wednesday!
